Parent Leadership Hub Weekly E-Newsletter for May 21,2009

The attached "Parent Leadership Hub" Weekly Email Update is sent to you from WSPEI and WI FACETS.   The Parent Leadership Hub supports parents/family members, educators and other community partners to build capacity regarding meaningful family involvement.   The Hub serves three primary purposes:
(1) To support parents of children with disabilities between birth and 26 years of age to participate as partners in the professional development activities of each of the other Statewide Initiatives as they design, deliver and support professional development experiences; and
(2) To facilitate opportunities for parents/family members to build leadership skills; and
(3)  To provide Content Focused technical assistance concerning family involvement.

Parent/Personnel Development Opportunities

  1. 2010 Wisconsin Transition Conference Call for Presentations
    The WI Transition Conference is now accepting presentation/breakout applications. Go to www.WSTI.org website and submit your idea. You will also need to have your Bio written up at the time you will submit your presentation idea. All presentations with Bio must be submitted by June 30, 2009.
  2. 2009 Kenosha Adventure Camp Program
    This unique camp experience for children, teens and adults ages 7-21 with disabilities that is free!  This camp opportunity is being funded by a gracious gift from the John J. and Ruth F. Kloss Charitable Trust.  Monday, August 10-Thursday, August 13 from 10am-3pm. Overnight Friday, August 14-Saturday, August 15
    Kenosha YMCA - Callahan Family Branch, 7101 53rd Street, Kenosha 53144
     
    There is a minimum of 10 campers and maximum of 20 on a first come, first serve basis. You must provide your own daily transportation.  Transportation will be provided for the overnight on Friday-Saturday.  The bus will leave and return from the YMCA.
